  • Spending Christmas morning with my husband, kids and parents exactly like I did growing up with my parents and grandparents!

  • Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, we head off into the mountains with a permit to find the perfect Christmas Tree. Then drag it home and break out the decorations while playing the Christmas music and breaking out the Hot chocolate and spiced cider. It’s been our tradition for generations. Love it!!

  • Coming from a Dutch family, we have a cheese platter, sing Christmas carols and open family gifts on Christmas Eve. This tradition has carried over since getting married and starting a family of my own.

  • Christmas Eve we open our ‘pajama’ presents then change. After that we drive E around looking at X-mas lights. When we get home it’s hot chocolate and a X-mas movie!

  • Our Advent calendar contains fun activities we do together all month long. This book would be awesome to incorporate into our traditions!

  • One of our favorite family traditions is the called “The Ball of fun”. Everybody participates in this each Christmas Eve. This tradition has been passed down for 3 generations. One person is respoible for creating the ball. Using crepe paper (like the stuff you use to decorate that comes in a roll) you start by wrapping the last item you want unwrapped. We put candy, songs, scripture quotes, gifts, and games all inside the all. Work in a criss cross pattern to cover as much surface area as possible. keeping wrapping around and around and add items to the crepe paper. When finished it looks almost the size of a soccer ball. We all sit in a circle on Christmas eve. The ball of fun is rolled to each person as it upwraps. If a item is there when the all gets to you you get to read the instructions, sing the song, or eat the treat. It takes about 2 hours to unwrap.

  • We stay up until midnight and drink Peruvian hot chocolate and open one family gift together. We started doing this as a compromise because my mom is Peruvian and they traditionally do ALL the celebrating at midnight. 🙂

  • Everything about christmas is a tradition for us. Remembering my own childhood i remember opening one christmas present and having family time by candlelight. Loved that. I love decorating the tree with my girls and putting out stockings. All of it makes my heart so happy!

  • I would love this book – My favorite tradition is reading the Christmas story from the scriptures and singing Christmas hymns after each scripture.

  • One of our favorite traditions is our 2 baskets of Christmas books, one sacred and one secular. We read one book from each basket every night by the Christmas tree to enjoy the season together. My kids still look forward to this even thought they are teens.

  • Our favorite tradition is all appetizers for Christmas Eve, a special overnight omelet for Christmas morning, and a ham dinner.

  • Wohoo! I would love this. Our favorite tradition is to do a HUGE Christmas Eve dinner and every year we have the Missionaries over.

  • Our favorite tradition is opening pj’s on Christmas Eve and then recording the kids’ reaction when they come down the stairs Christmas morning. My husband and I also watch Elf every Christmas Eve before bed time.

  • Looking at Christmas Lights together as a family – temple square and driving around the neighborhood. We started doing a holiday lights scavenger hunt while driving around and the kids loved it last year. Looking forward to it again!

  • Making my moms Christmas candy! Toffee, old fashioned fudge, pecan logs, and brittle, not to mention cookies! Oh I Love holiday baking

  • Handing out neighbor/friend gifts with my kids. They love seeing people smile, and I love watching them smile. So fun!

  • We always do some kind of service. We did this when I was a child and I’m glad we have continued I to do it now that I am married so we can show our children the importance of service.

  • one tradition was to get hot cocoa and scones from a local place. it’s been closed down so now we have to find a new place for this tradition to carry on.

  • Favorite family tradition is opening up our Christmas pjs to wear Christmas Eve then reading the story of the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ.

  • We love to read our Christmas books around our fireplace…one year it resulted in a trip to the instacare because my husband cut off the tip of his finger cutting up some wood on the saw for the fire!!!!

  • Opening pjs on Christmas Eve and being with family. It’s a nice low key night. We read stories from the scripture and enjoy one another company. Sad to not being home this Christmas but definetly will carry on the tradition with my little family.

  • Opening one present on Christmas Eve and having a big family get to together. I also love putting up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving!

  • I love the traditions of Christmas, particularly getting together with family and extended family on Christmas Eve to share a meal and exchange gifts. It’s a cozy and warm evening no matter what the weather is outside.

  • On Christmas Eve the kids open a present that has new pj’s, a new movie, popcorn, and hot chocolate inside! We then watch a Christmas movie and enjoy our new pj’s and treats!

  • making christmas sugar cookies and decorating them with all my sisters. Takes forever but tastes so yummy! Many laughs shared throughout the whole process. We’ve been doing it for 20+ years and I love it.
