Yesterday as I was posting one of our deals on Facebook I noticed a new “Promote” button at the bottom of the post. Facebook wants to charge us to have our posts show up on your News Feed! Seriously! I can’t tell you how annoyed and frustrated by this I am. We think of our facebook fans as our friends and facebook as an avenue of sharing our great finds with you.
So here’s the deal. Facebook limits what you do and don’t see – You don’t get to pick. (Bummer!) You already aren’t seeing all of our posts from the Utah Sweet Savings Facebook Page. Facebook decides which ones to show and which ones not to with their Edgerank System. The ONLY way to help make sure you see them is to “like” the Utah Sweet Savings Posts and leave comments on them on a regular basis. The more you do, the more the posts will show up on your news feed.
This new change means that not only do you see about 1/2 of our posts (therefore missing out on deals/freebies/local events if that is your main way of following us) but now you will see even less. The last post I posted last night on Facebook was only sent to 131 people – out of 3,348 likes on our page. That is only 4%. So they want to charge us from $15-$30 A POST to make sure that our posts show up on your news feeds! Are you kidding me. We are a deal site – and although we do make commissions off of printed coupons and purchases through our site – at this rate we would not be able to post even 1 share a day on facebook! We have tried to keep our website free from as many ads as possible so that the pages load fast and you get to just see all of the great deals we post so it is easy for our readers to use. We like to share great deals that we find!
If you would like to see our posts on your news feed, you can take charge! Here is what you need to do. Head on over and make sure you “like” our Facebook Page. Then we need to you “like” the posts that you see and comment on them. If you don’t do this, Utah Sweet Savings will disappear from your news feed all together. Help us out. Don’t let us disappear! You will need to do this regularly.
Also, for those of you who don’t know, make sure you go to the Utah Sweet Saving Facebook Page and hover over the “Liked” button with your mouse. A drop down will appear and make sure the “Show in News Feed” line has a check-mark by it.
As always, the very best way to make sure you don’t miss a deal is to check UtahSweetSavings.com throughout the day and sign up to get our daily email updates.
I guess Facebook is going broke, huh?
That is such a bummer! Boo!
