I came home from the gym this afternoon and found my new Shark SmoothStyle Heated Comb & Blow Dryer Brush waiting on my doorstep! This thing is so cool. I’m in love! This can be used as a blow dryer BUT it can also just be used as a styling comb without the hot air. So you can use it on dry hair, too! It’s basically two hair tools in one. Plus it carries the quality Shark name, so I was super excited to give it a try.
Now, before I go any further, you need to know how to get this for a STEAL! You can find a complete bundle with the Shark SmoothStyle Heated Comb & Blow Dryer Brush, storage bag, and non-slip mat all for $79.99 (reg $135.97 if sold separately, normally $119.99 at HSN).
- Plus, if you’re a new HSN shopper you can use code HSN2024 to get another $10 off your first order, dropping the price to $69.99!
- Shipping is free, too.
On to the results!!
After a shower and a wash, I let my hair air dry for a bit while I drove my daughter to a friend’s house. The instructions do say to use it on hair that’s about 70% damp. I also sprayed my favorite heat protectant spray on it, and ran a brush through it. Your hair should be detangled before you start using it, too. I set the Shark SmoothStyle Heated Comb & Blow Dryer Brush to the 2nd heat setting, and hardly felt any heat at all, but MAN it dried SO FAST! This is what it looked like after just the blow drying.
It’s a little frizzy on the ends, probably because of my slightly naturally curly hair. But it isn’t too bad, and 9 times out of 10 I’d be satisfied and move on with my day. But of course, I wanted to try the dry hair mode, too, since I’ve never seen anything like that.
I turned the switch to the smoothing mode, which has ZERO air flow, only heat, and the orange light turned on. After about 2 minutes it switched to green, letting me know it was ready. This part might take some getting used to, as you are still supposed to rotate the brush 360° so the hair goes through all the different brush parts. Some of my hair then flipped a little more than I’d like, but I think with time I’ll be able to figure it out more.
It definitely smoothed out the frizzy ends, and gave it a more polished “I actually did my hair today” look. As with the wet mode, it hardly took any time at all. I do have fine, thin hair, so I appreciate that it doesn’t take long and I’m not applying heat to my fragile hair for extended periods. I assume people with thicker hair will take a little longer to style, and I’ll have my daughter test it out tomorrow, so stay tuned!
In summary, I LOVE IT! It’s quick and easy to use and adds volume but also has the option of giving you the finished smooth, glossy ends. I think it will be awesome to take for travel, so I can dry and smooth my hair quickly, and I’ll only have to take one hair tool.
