I was able to take my family to This Is The Place Heritage Park yesterday, for Baby Animal Days and it was so much fun! This was our second time there, and last time we spent very little time at the farm section, so that is what we focused on this trip.
When you arrive, you’ll get your admission from the Visitor Center and Gift Shop. You’ll get a wristband with 3 squares on it that allows you to do three activities: take-home crafts, pony rides, or mini-train rides. You get to choose the activities, so you could even do 3 pony rides if you want. The park is open from 10 am – 5 pm. HINT: We have your exclusive discount code. Just mention Utah Sweet Savings at the gift shop when you purchase your tickets and you will save $2 a ticket!
- $11/adults, $8/children (3-11) & seniors, Free/children (2 and under)
- 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Baby animals are not available on Sundays.
There is SO much to do at Baby Animals at This is The Place.
- Baby animals to snuggle and pet (including goats, chicks, sheep, and more)
- Pony Rides
- Train Rides
- Fun Entertainment
- Artisans demonstrating life in the 19th century
- Take home crafts
- Fun Games
- And Much More!
You have to meet Bones, the Ox. He let me snuggle him for a bit and loves to be pet. He also enjoys licking, so watch out for his tongue. He was my favorite! We also met Spaz the goat and her babies, Honey and Appy and the rest of the ponies, and dozens of the sweetest baby chicks.
Your children will love pretending to be pioneers and doing chores and playing games, just like real pioneer children did.
Don’t miss the train ride around the park. It’s full of historical information, and you’ll enjoy absolutely stunning views of the valley.
I’ll tell you what. Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’s ain’t got NOTHIN’ on Brigham’s Donuts. They are delicious. Make sure you grab a dozen or two! You can get the toppings, but I think they are perfect just like they come with the cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on them. Oh, yum.
I love the history you can learn about in this place! Read the signs and also talk to the staff. You’ll learn so much about our great state!
While you are there be sure to check out their gift shop at the Visitors Center and the ZCMI Mercantile where you’ll find nostalgic candies, old-time sodas and old-fashioned toys and games. The Huntsman Grill will also be serving great grub daily. I like to use the sweets as a reward for good behavior in the park, and threaten the crickets for bad behavior. 😉
I hope you enjoy your own trip to This Is The Place Heritage Park! This is just a tiny bit of the many things available. There’s also an amazing splash pad that the kids LOVE when it’s hot in the summer time, delicious ice cream, and plenty more to do and see. Your family will have a most enjoyable time going back in time for a day!
