Valentines is supposed to be a romantic holiday with a thoughtful sentimental gift – but these can be the hardest ideas to come up with sometimes. A few years ago I was having major dilemmas coming up with a worthy gift for my husband on a super tight budget. A friend suggested that I get something that would be a reminder of our dating days.
One of our favorite dates we went on was to Fazolis where we sat talking for hours about what we were looking for (it actually wasn’t even a date – we were just “friends” although this was a turning point for us) and realized that we were looking for each other.
So I went back and asked if I could get some type of clothing item. The manager thought my request a little weird so I told her a little bit about that night and how we had now been married for 7 years with 3 kids. She was so sweet and ended up giving me a hat, a polo shirt and pin to give my husband – and even though I offered to pay something she insisted on giving it to me. This has been one of my husbands favorite gifts. For me it was both the sentimental idea I was trying to go with and ended up costing me nothing in the end.
