Giveaway Time! One of our readers is about to win a jar of Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil. What the heck? Coconut Oil? How on earth would I use that?! You can read about the health benefits below – but in a nutshell, because it’s yummy! My family really loves Sweet Potato Fries – crisped in just a bit of Coconut Oil, it gives it a candied taste. Lightly salt them … and YUM! The Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil (I’ve tried a few brands) is VERY creamy and has a rich coconut flavor. It melts almost instantly. Try a spoonful in your hot cocoa during the winter months for a new twist. I’ve also used it as butter on my toast (not something I would do just for fun, but I was trying to work it into my diet and that was one every day use I found).
I was asking my sister the other day if she had any recipes she used it in … nope, but she used it on her baby’s cradle cap to soften his skin. Never thought of that one! I’ve also seen great results for using it on your hands. Personally, I like it to condition the ends of my hair. It keeps it really soft and has an awesome beachy / tropical smell that makes me feel like I’m on vacation.
I found some great recipes you can check out here. There is a recipe for FUDGE! which has fewer calories when made with coconut oil – they are so good! The thing that I found with cooking with the coconut oil is that you can replace pretty much any oil item (butter, crisco, etc) but you WILL notice a coconut flavor. Most of the time I didn’t mind it, and on certain items (like the fries and fudge) it makes a nice addition – but I tried it on meats and in a few soups and did not like it, so before you make a huge batch of anything you may want to test it out.
Win 1 quart of Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil!
Tropical Traditions is America’s source for coconut oil. Their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is hand crafted in small batches by family producers, and it is the highest quality coconut oil they offer. You can read more about how virgin coconut oil is different from other coconut oils on their website: What is Virgin Coconut Oil?
You can also watch the video they produced about Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil:
Tropical Traditions also carries other varieties of affordable high quality coconut oil. Visit their website to check on current sales, to learn about the many uses of coconut oil, and to read about all the advantages of buying coconut oil online. Since the FDA does not want us to discuss the health benefits of coconut oil on a page where it is being sold or given away, here is the best website to read about the health benefits of coconut oil.
All the opinions in this post are my own. I did receive free product to test out and am under no obligation to give a positive review. Please enter on the rafflecopter below.
I use coconut oil instead of lotions. It is also wonderful as an eye cream or lip moisturizer. I use it in all cooking since it does not turn into trans fat when heated like other oils do.
I use it as a facial moisturizer but would love to start using it for cooking!
I use coconut oil to cook all of my meals instead of canola or vegetable oil. It tastes so much cleaner.
Thank you!!
I love using it to cook popcorn! Thanks for the chance to win!
