Have you been to Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum lately?  I know it is crazy but, until yesterday, I had never been.   I had the chance to preview their newest exhibit and I can tell you this one is going to be a HIT!  Discovery Gateway and Intermountain Healthcare have come together and produced an amazing exhibit called “Saving Lives.”

Discovery Gateway’s new Saving Lives exhibit, sponsored by Intermountain Healthcare, is the first of its kind! Featuring the iconic Life Flight helicopter and a kid-sized Primary Children’s emergency department, the exhibit is entirely hands-on, with interactive opportunities for up to 40 children at one time; including:

• Coordinate a Life Flight Launch in the Command Center
• Transport patients from the helicopter to Primary Children’s emergency department
• Join the surgical team to perform one of three surgeries via iPad apps

I personally got to check each of these features out and I can tell you that your kiddos are going to go CRAZY over this new exhibit.  The Life Flight helicopter now has a covering over it to protect it from the weather.  It even lights up and makes the sound of a helicopter taking off in flight.  The Command Center has all the bells and wistles you would expect.  From buttons that call the helicopter, to a screen with video of an actual helicopter taking off.  It also has a phone to communicate with the mini Primary Children’s Emergency Department.

Kids of all ages will love the kid sized Primary Children’s Hospital.  It has the cutest little mini check-in desk, murals on the wall that remind you of the actual hospital, x-ray machines, little mini scrubs, and even a little surgery center.  Kids will even have the opportunity to perform surgeries via iPad apps (the ipads are mounted in little wooden children on hospital tables).

Everything is state of the art and kid friendly.  This is such a cool addition to the already amazing children’s museum.  I can’t wait to take my kiddos back!
