What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a physical exfoliation.  Using a microderm machine, finely ground aluminum crystals are gently sprayed at the skin and vacuumed away.  This process loosens and removes the surface dead skin cells.  Microderm is a great complimentary treatment to more aggressive procedures such as peels or laser resurfacing.

Does it hurt?

No.  The process for microdermabrasion is much like a facial.  Your skin will be gently cleansed prior to the treatment.  Many people describe the feeling like being “licked by a cat”.  It is slightly rough and gently tugs, but very comfortable.  Post treatment, a moisturizer and sunscreen will be applied.
