Hale Centre Theatre’s Wait Until Dark Kicks Off Scariest Time of Year!

Opening tonight, Sept 12, there is no need to wait until Halloween to get your thrills! Wait Until Dark is one of the most gripping plays ever written and will run until November 17th.

The perfect chill as autumn leaves begin to fall, Wait Until Dark is one of the finest suspense tales in movie history and it hits the live stage with the same ingenious power. Tickets for the hair-raising thriller are on sale now. This show may be too intense for young children.

The suspenseful drama centers on Susy Hendrix, a blind housewife, who is the target of conman, Roat, and his cohorts. The gang was tipped off about drugs hidden inside a doll that Susy’s husband unknowingly brought home from Canada as a favor to a strange woman. A game of cat and mouse ensues, as the murderous visitors search for the doll right under Susy’s nose. However, it becomes unclear who is the cat and who is the mouse as Susy attempts to outwit her nemeses.

“The author, Fredrick Knott, manipulates our collective fears and primal instinct by letting us experience the permanent darkness of Susy,” said Dave Tinney, director at Hale Centre Theatre. “Fear of the dark is not usually a fear of the dark itself, but rather a fear of imagined dangers concealed by darkness. This show definitely plays off of audiences’ fear of the unknown and is perfect for this time of year.”

PERFORMANCE TIMES

• Mon-Sat evenings at 7:30 p.m.
• Sat Matinees at 12:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
• Due to demand some other 4:00 p.m. performances may be added.
• No children under the age of five are permitted in the theater on all other performances.

The show is almost sold out!

But don’t despair! They have been adding more shows! These are at 4:00 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so far. So grab those before they are gone!

Ticket prices are a great value for this AMAZING show, at only $44 for Adult unless you choose a Weekday Matinees then it’s only $40 – Youth (5-17): $20

If you are looking online and it says that the shows are sold out, you might still want to call and see if you can get tickets. I have called and gotten tickets that others have canceled. And they are so helpful.
