Can you believe it is already August! Where has the summer gone? It seems like every year it gets shorter and shorter! We have been having so much fun. I’ve mentioned before that one of the reasons I try to save money on all the essentials in our life is so that we can go and do fun things as a family. Since my hubby is a teacher he has the summer off and we have been having a blast doing fun things with the kiddos.
We have done a lot. Splash pads, pool, zoo, vacations, parks, outdoor events, movies, ect. It has been a busy summer. But most of those fun things have been outdoors! Ugh! I don’t know about you, but I am melting! I decided the next thing we needed to do needed to be something indoors! Something that would keep my kiddos entertained, and something that would be interesting and enjoyable for myself too.
So we grabbed some friends and headed to The Living Planet Aquarium. It was the PERFECT playdate! Have you been the aquarium? It is full of some of the most amazing things. We had been there once before but had been on a discount day. While it was great that time, I couldn’t believe how much I had missed the first time around.
Since this time around we went on a Wednesday there were less people. Which meant that there was more room for our kiddos to run around and see everything. And boy is there a lot to see. I think my personal favorite is the petting tank. You get to actually touch and pet the animals inside. I do have to tell you that I have fallen in love with a little shark that lives in that tank. We are now the best of friends. Make sure to tell him hello when you go visit. I am afraid that he will miss me.
My five year old is starting Kindergarten this year *ahhhhhh* and I loved how excited she was to learn about everything. It was so much fun to read to her all about the different fish and animals that she saw.
{Teaching the girls about the Red Piranha}
One of my 3 years old’s favorite exhibit was the seahorse. She LOVED all the different “little horses.” In fact at the end of the day we let each girl get a stamped penny of their favorite aquatic animal and she picked the seahorse. Make sure to check them out and look close, they have little tiny ones that are so small you can’t even tell they are animals unless you look REALLY REALLY close. AMAZING!
My five year old had a really hard time deciding what her favorite was. It really wasn’t a fair question. That would be like asking me what my favorite desert is. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!
She went with the penguins and the otters! Two of my favorites as well!
This is your LAST CHANCE to visit The Living Planet Aquarium at it’s current location. Did you know that they are building a HUGE new location in Draper? I am so super excited! I can’t wait! To get ready for the move they will be closing the current location at 700 E and 10600 S in Sandy on September 8th!
This will be the last chance to get into see all of these beautiful animals at the lower price. While the price of admission will go up at the new location, it will be totally worth it, I am sure. But, if you would like to save a few bucks, now would be the time to head on in. Plus, it is so nice and cool and peaceful there, it is the perfect place to spend a hot August day.
{A HUGE thanks to my dear friend Debra from Housewife Eclectic
