Oh the Circut Mini! Say hello to my little friend. Yes, I love her. But, there is someone who loves her even more than I do.
Let me introduce you to my hubby, Jason:
Becky recently got a Cricut Mini….So why is she not writing this post? Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jason and I am Becky’s man-crafter husband. I have been doing some form of crafting most of my life.
It started early making dance costumes for my Mom’s dance studio when I was very young. I even worked at Mac’s craft when I was in high school but that is another story for another day. When I found out she got a Cricut machine I was more excited than I have been, about a new toy, in a long time.
When it came I was surprised how small it was, and that made me a little apprehensive about its capabilities. I have seen other Cricut machines which are a lot bigger and look more elaborate, so I was not really sure what the deal was. Turns out, the other machines are bigger because they have their own built in design system. You access the images you want to cut by choosing numbers from your cartridges and then you size them and move them on your machine as well. This new little Cricut Mini is the future at its best. Instead of having to know how to program and change each image that you are cutting on the machine with a code, this machine hooks to your computer and allows you to use the new “Cricut Craft Room” program which you load on your computer. It works like other image editing programs in that you can select your images from the list of cartridges that you own (you can even download new single images, or whole cartridges if you want from the website). Once you have chosen the image you can click and drag or otherwise manipulate the image any way you choose with general ease.
My favorite part of this new system is that the cutting mat is represented in scale size and you can see exactly where your blade will cut images relative to other cuts which helps you save valuable paper/vinyl by allowing you to use every square millimeter of space.
The sky is the limit with this mini. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have. I think I will try cutting some fabric with mine next, I would like to make some appliqué place mats…. That’s right I sew and I have three machines to prove it. Enjoy!
See, I told you he loves it! We have had so much fun making things at our house. Jason and my girls even made me birthday cards. They were SO cute!
I wanted to show you some of our projects, but I had issues with my camera. Boo! So instead I decided to share some of my favorite posts from some of my favorite bloggers. These are all crafts that have been created with a Cricut. Check them out!
